Kara arrived in Tennessee Friday afternoon,
August 24, 2007 to her furnished apartment in Antioch. She
is here as our intern, part of her degree process while
attending Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus OH, and will be
with us through July, 2008 before returning to complete her
senior year there.
She was born and raised in Wheeling WV by
her parents, Chris and Karen. She has a sister, Jana,
five years younger
than her. They are members of St. Mark Lutheran, one
of seven Lutheran churches in Wheeling.
College began for her at WV Wesleyan College, Buckhannon WV with
Elementary Education and Christian Education. She moved on
to Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling WV where she completed her BS
December, 2005 in Math, Secondary Education, Special Education
and Elementary Education.
She gained experience as a Youth Director
through Thivent Financial for Lutherans Chapter Board at St.
Mark Lutheran, Wheeling WV for about three years. She also
had the opportunity to be the Christian Education Director at
First Presbyterian Church while at college in Buckhannon WV.
William Travis Shaw proposed to Kara July
26, 2006 and she said "Of course." They have set a date to
be married on October 11, 2008 at Olgebay Resort and Conference
Center in Wheeling WV.
Some of her interests include cooking
(it's great - Youth Group, September 5), attending festivals and
golfing with her fiancé, Travis. Kara would love to get to
know you all, e-mail or call her to get together for a visit,
eat or coffee.
